Ofsted close Wiltshire nursery – woman arrested in police investigation

Privately owned Little Angels Nursery in Calne is currently under investigation by the police following an Ofsted report stating that “a child may be exposed to a risk of harm”.

An unnamed woman was arrested on Saturday by Wiltshire police then taken to Melksham police station where she was later released on police bail.

Last inspected on 27th May, the Little Angels Nursery was given a rating of “good”. but following its latest inspection, Ofsted has suspended the nursery from operating.

A statement posted on the gate says: “The purpose of the suspension is to allow time to investigate our belief that a child may be exposed to a risk of harm and for any necessary steps to be taken to eliminate or reduce the risk of harm. We will regularly review the situation and will stop the suspension within this period if we believe children are no longer at risk.”

According to the report there are currently nine staff working at the nursery covering 78 children aged 0 – 8 years old.

Although details about the investigation are currently under wraps, concerned parents who have been affected by the closure are urged to contact their local social services for further details.
